چکیده

We generated antisense constructs targeting two of the five Rubisco small subunit genes (OsRBCS2 and 4) which account for between 30–40 % RBCS transcript abundance in leaf blades. The were driven by a maize phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase (PEPC) promoter known to have enriched expression mesophyll cells (MCs). In resulting lines leaf, protein content was reduced 30–50 CO2 assimilation rate limited under photorespiratory non-photorespiratory conditions. A relationship found. This associated with significant reduction dry biomass accumulation grain yield 37–70%. addition serving as resource reducing cell-preferential manner, these allow us characterize gene function isoform specific suppression on photosynthesis growth. Our results suggest that knockdown multiple is required completely reduce MCs.

Ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase activase protein prevents the in vitro decline in activity of ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase.

The rate of CO(2) fixation by ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (rubisco) following addition of ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate (RuBP) to fully activated enzyme, declined with first-order kinetics, resulting in 50% loss of rubisco activity after 10 to 12 minutes. This in vitro decline in rubisco activity, termed fall-over, was prevented if purified rubisco activase protein and ATP were ...

Subsaturating RibuIose-l,5=Bisphosphate Concentration Promotes lnactivation of Ribulose-l,5-Bisphosphate Carboxylase/Oxygenase (Rubisco)'

We developed a continuous-addition method for maintaining subsaturating concentrations of ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate (RuBP) for severa1 minutes, while simultaneously monitoring i t s consumption by ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (Rubisco). This method enabled us to observe the effects of subsaturating RuBP and CO, concentrations on the activity of Rubisco during much longer peri...

Ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate Carboxylase/Oxygenase content, assimilatory charge, and mesophyll conductance in leaves

The content of ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (Rubisco) (Et; EC 4.1.1.39) measured in different-aged leaves of sunflower (Helianthus annuus) and other plants grown under different light intensities, varied from 2 to 75 &mgr;mol active sites m-2. Mesophyll conductance (&mgr;) was measured under 1.5% O2, as well as postillumination CO2 uptake (assimilatory charge, a gas-exchange ...

Ribulose-1, 5-Bisphosphate Carboxylase/Oxygenase Gene Sequencing in Taxonomic Delineation of Padina Species in theNorthern Coast of the Persian Gulf, (IRAN)

Taxonomic study of the genus Padina (Dictyotales, Phaeophyceae) from the Persian Gulf coast was conducted based on morphology and molecular phylogenetic analyses using chloroplast encoded large subunit RuBisCo (rbcL) gene sequences. Detailed descriptions of each species found in this study are described. Several morphological characters, such as number of cell layers composing the thallus, pr...

Unusual ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase of anoxic Archaea.

The predominant pool of organic matter on earth is derived from the biological reduction and assimilation of carbon dioxide gas, catalyzed primarily by the enzyme ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (RubisCO). By virtue of its capacity to use molecular oxygen as an alternative and competing gaseous substrate, the catalytic efficiency of RubisCO and the enzyme's ability to assimilate...
